A new menu and new drinks for spring 2018

It’s all change at El Gato Negro. Now we’ve (hopefully) left the extremities of winter behind us, it’s time to unveil our new restaurant menu to celebrate spring. Chef Patron Simon and Head Chef Carlos Gomes have updated the dishes on offer, celebrating seasonally-available produce and the very best ingredients we can source.
We’ve added some superb new charcuterie dishes: try the Teruel lomo (an artisanal sliced, cured pork loin) or our Chorizo selection (artisan Leon and magno). New meat dishes include braised pig cheeks with minestrone vegetables, chargrilled beef fillet skewer with mojo rojo and chargrilled chicken thighs with mojo picón and crispy shallots.
As ever we embrace the ocean with some fabulous new dishes: the Basque-inspired cod pil-pil with piperrada vegetables and ajillo, or what about St Austell’s finest, steamed Cornish mussels with vegetable vinaigrette.
One of the dishes our customers speak most fondly of are the oysters we launched with two years ago. Now they’re back, and dare we say better than ever. Once you’ve tasted an Ostra Regal oyster, yuzu juice, tobiko wasabi and pickled cucumber you’ll never look back.
Glorious new veg dishes include chargrilled sweet potato with marjoram dressing and heritage tomato salad with green olives, red onion, Moscatel dressing.
With so many new dishes we’ve expanded what’s available for our set lunch options. Whether you’re looking for a quick working lunch option, or you’d like an introduction to some of our signature dishes, the set lunch is ideal. It’s available from 12-5pm from Tuesday to Friday, with 3 dishes costing just £15.
El Gato Negro has always been known for a focused, fantastic drinks offering and we’re delighted to announce this continues with our recently-launched bar drinks menu. Crafted around an inspired selection of unique cocktails, and a series of perfectly-curated spirits and matching tonics, there’s something for everyone. Our bartenders have been honing these creations for months, ready for your enjoyment. Cheers!
